Ramadan is here, and while it’s a time of spiritual reflection, for students, it’s also a time of discipline and focus. Fasting brings its own challenges—low energy, difficulty concentrating, and struggling to retain information—but with the right strategies, you can make this month a powerful time for studying and self-improvement.
Along with effective revision methods, duas can play a huge role in helping you retain knowledge, focus better, and stay mentally sharp. The Prophet ﷺ taught us that knowledge is a gift from Allah, and asking for it sincerely can strengthen our memory and understanding.
And if you’re preparing for MDCAT or any other exam, you don’t have to do it alone. The PreMed Ramadan Test Series is here to help, providing daily tests, live solution discussions, and instant analysis—all designed to sharpen your concepts during Ramadan.
Now let’s go through the best duas and practical strategies to help you make the most of your studies this month.
1. Dua to Begin Studying with the Right Intentions
Before opening your books, take a moment to renew your intentions. Studying isn’t just about passing exams—it’s about gaining knowledge that benefits you and others. Recite this dua to align your heart and mind:
اللَّهُمَّ أَخْرِجْنِي مِنْ ظُلُمَاتِ الْوَهُمِ وَأَكْرِمْنِي بِنُورِ الْفَهْمِ اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ عَلَيْنَا أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ وَانْشُرْ عَلَيْنَا خَزَائِنَ عُلُوْمِكَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ
Allhumma Akhrijni min zulumatil wahmi wa akrimni be nuril fahmi. Allahumma afta alayna abwaba rahmateka, wa anshur alyna khazaena uloomeka. be rahmateka ya arrahamar rahemeen.
Translation: O Allah, please bring me out of the darkness of doubt and favour me with the light of comprehension, O Allah open to us the doors of your mercy and unfold for us the treasure of your knowledge by your mercy. O the most merciful of the merciful ones.
PreMed Ramadan Test Series Tip: Before taking a daily test, recite this dua and attempt the test with full focus. The more you review and practice under exam-like conditions, the better your retention.

2. Dua for Memory and Retention
Fasting can sometimes make your mind feel foggy. If you struggle with forgetting what you study, this Quranic dua can help strengthen memory and improve understanding:
رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِّن لِّسَانِي يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي
Rabbi ishrah li sadri, wa yassir li amri, wahlul ‘uqdatan min lisani, yafqahuqawli.
Translation: My Lord, expand my chest, ease my task for me, and remove the impediment from my tongue so they may understand my speech. (Surah Taha 20:25-28)
PreMed Ramadan Test Series Tip: After taking a test, review the explanations in the live discussion sessions. Teaching yourself and explaining mistakes out loud helps lock concepts into long-term memory.
3. Dua to Prevent Knowledge from Being Forgotten
One of the biggest fears students have is forgetting everything before an exam. To protect what you’ve learned, recite this:
سُبْحَانَكَ لَا عِلْمَ لَنَا إِلَّا مَا عَلَّمْتَنَا إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْعَلِيمُ الْحَكِيمُ
Subhanaka la ‘ilma lana illa ma ‘allamtana innaka antal-‘Aleemul-Hakeem.
Translation: Glory be to You, we have no knowledge except what You have taught us. Indeed, You are the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:32)
PreMed Ramadan Test Series Tip: Write down your mistakes after each test and revisit them before suhoor. Learning from errors ensures you won’t repeat them again.

4. Dua for Confidence and Success in Exams
Even after studying hard, exam anxiety can make you doubt yourself. This dua is a reminder that Allah is your best source of strength:
حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ
Hasbiyallahu la ilaha illa huwa ‘alayhi tawakkaltu wa huwa Rabbul-‘Arshil-‘Azeem.
Translation: Allah is sufficient for me. There is no deity except Him. I have placed my trust in Him, and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne. (Surah At-Tawbah 9:129)
PreMed Ramadan Test Series Tip: Take the weekly revision test to simulate real exam conditions. The more comfortable you get with test pressure now, the more confident you’ll be on exam day.
Study & Revision Tips for Ramadan
Best time to study? After Fajr—your mind is fresh, and retention is higher.
Active recall: Instead of re-reading notes, close your book and test yourself.
Listen to the Quran while studying: Helps with focus and keeps you calm.
Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water after iftar to avoid dehydration.
